Mike M. is the hands-on owner behind Iron Mako Media, the publisher of Seat & Stake. He started the site for people who would rather pay once for camp furniture that lasts than replace a torn chair every season. Seat & Stake scores products on published specs, written warranties and parts availability, and says plainly when a figure isn't published.

How Mike scores camp furniture

Every page on Seat & Stake carries the line “products we claim to have tested: 0.” That means Mike reads the maker's published rated capacity, frame, fabric, dimensions and weight; reads each brand's own warranty page and quotes the term with the date; checks whether seat fabric, cot canvas, feet, valves and legs are sold as replacement parts; and scores each product with the fixed bands published on how we score. It does not mean he has sat in, slept on or owned the product, and no page on this site says otherwise.

If a page ever describes something Mike has done with a specific chair, cot or table, it will say exactly what was done and for how long. Until then, “sourced” is the honest label, and the trade for it is that every figure on the site links to where it came from.

What you won't find here

• Credentials, titles or years-of-experience claims he hasn't provided.
• Claims that he owns or has tested a product he hasn't.
• Amazon prices, star ratings or review counts.
• Rankings paid for by a brand. Commissions never set a score or decide a pick.
