Camping chair warranty guide: 17 brands' written terms, parts and Amazon fine print

The camping chair warranty table

Most camping chair reviews skip the warranty. We think it's the most honest durability signal a maker gives you, because it's the one promise they have to pay for. So we read the warranty page of every chair maker in our research on 2026-09-22 and set the terms side by side. Quoted text is the maker's own wording. The last column is the warranty score each term earns under our published scoring bands (lifetime 10, five years 7, two to four years 5, one year 3, not published 0). Each brand name links to the page we read.

Three things stand out. Lifetime coverage is rare: four brands, plus Crazy Creek on some products. One year is the most common term, at six brands. And the column most buyers never read, where you bought it, can erase the warranty entirely.

Who offers a lifetime warranty (and what “lifetime” means)

Four chair brands in our table put a lifetime term in writing: ALPS Mountaineering, NEMO, Big Agnes and Guide Gear. Crazy Creek sets lifetime, five-year or one-year terms product by product, and its HEX 2.0 Original seat is covered for life.

“Lifetime” means the life of the product, not yours. ALPS says so directly: “The life of the product can vary based on its age and how you have used it.” Big Agnes words its term as “for the lifetime of the product.” And every lifetime warranty covers defects only. A seam that lets go in year six because it was sewn badly is a claim; a seat that faded and thinned after six summers in the sun is wear.

Guide Gear's guarantee has one open question. It's published by Sportsman's Guide, the brand's owner, on its own customer-service page, and the page doesn't say whether a Guide Gear chair bought somewhere else, such as Amazon, qualifies. If that matters to you, ask Sportsman's Guide before you buy.

GCI's warranty is three years now, not lifetime

If you've read that GCI Outdoor rockers carry a lifetime warranty, that information is out of date. Outdoor Life printed “Limited lifetime” for a GCI Comfort Pro entry in April 2024. GCI's own warranty page, read 2026-09-22, says chairs carry a “3 Year Limited Warranty,” with claims in the first 90 days handled by the retailer and a shipping fee in years two and three. GCI also says “sun damage and extended exposure to the elements will void the warranty.”

That matters most for rocking chairs, because GCI makes six of the seven single rockers in our registry. Three years still beats the one-year terms from Coleman, Kelty and Kijaro, and GCI's rockers score well on fit. Where you buy decides whether you're covered

This is the part of a camping chair warranty that costs people the most, and it's the part we check hardest, because the buy buttons on this site go to Amazon.

The practical rule: on Amazon, check who the listing says the item is sold by. A chair sold by Amazon itself or by the brand's own storefront is the safest bet; a chair from an unknown third-party seller may leave you with only Amazon's return window. Keep the order confirmation either way, since every maker in the table asks for proof of purchase.

What no camping chair warranty covers

Read the exclusions column and the same list repeats:

• Normal wear and tear is excluded by every warranty in the table.
• Sun and weather. ALPS, Kijaro and STRONGBACK exclude UV damage; GCI says sun damage voids the warranty; Kelty excludes weather-related damage.
• Punctures, rips and burns. YETI excludes punctures; GCI excludes rips and burns; ALPS and Coleman exclude burns and fire.
• Rust is excluded by GCI and STRONGBACK.
• Alterations and DIY repairs. ALPS, Kijaro and KingCamp exclude alterations or modifications, and Westfield excludes unauthorized repair. Check before you patch a chair that's still under warranty.
• The fabric itself, sooner. STRONGBACK covers its frame for three years (direct) but its fabric for one.

In other words, a warranty protects you from a chair that was built wrong, not one that was used hard. That's why the next column matters as much as the term.

Parts: the other half of the promise

When the seat tears from wear, the warranty is done and the parts list takes over. Helinox is the only chair maker in our table that sells replacement seats, for the Chair One, Chair Zero, Chair One XL and more, along with feet and cases. ALPS sells replacement carry bags and a kickstand elbow for the Escape and takes other part requests by phone. STRONGBACK sells bags and a cup holder. Kelty, NEMO, Crazy Creek, Big Agnes and YETI offer repairs instead of parts. Coleman, Guide Gear, LivingXL, Kijaro and Mac Sports list no chair parts at all.

How to make a warranty claim that works

The conditions in the table add up to a short checklist:

1. Keep the receipt and note the seller. ALPS asks for proof of purchase from an authorized dealer; NEMO and Kelty ask for proof of purchase too.
2. Photograph the defect. Coleman and Kijaro ask for photos with the claim.
3. Report it promptly. Westfield wants written notice within 30 days of finding a defect; Mac Sports wants visible construction defects reported within 14 days of delivery; GCI routes claims in the first 90 days to the retailer.
4. Expect to ship it. YETI requires you to return the product; GCI charges a shipping fee in years two and three; Crazy Creek charges a flat fee on warranty replacements. NEMO says claims take two to six weeks.
5. Don't alter it first. A DIY repair on a chair that's still covered can give the maker a reason to decline.

What to look for in a camping chair warranty

• A long term that applies where you buy. A lifetime warranty you can't claim is worth less than STRONGBACK's two years that explicitly covers Amazon.
• Fabric coverage. Check whether the fabric gets the full term or a shorter one, and whether UV is excluded.
• A parts or repair path after the warranty. Helinox's replacement seats are the benchmark.
• A written term at all. LivingXL publishes no warranty for its 1,000 lb chair, only a 90-day return policy, and Dometic publishes none we could find for its GO Compact chair.
