We scored every chair-and-table set in our registry on the table rubric: the tabletop's published load rating first, then the written warranty, listed parts, fit and weight. Seat ratings are shown on every card, but a set is scored on its table, as our published scoring rubric spells out. We haven't bought, sat at or used any of these; every figure links to the maker's page, read 2026-09-22.

One note on the ranking. The award goes to the best set that comes in one box, so the Picnic Time is #1. The two picks at #2 and #3 are a pairing, not a set: the table and the chairs you would buy instead. Piece by piece they outscore every boxed set here, which is why they rank above the other two. The King Kong's 7.6 is on our chair rubric, so compare it with other chairs, not with the tables around it.

The numbers, side by side

Read the top row first, because it is where boxed sets are weakest. Picnic Time rates its ABS tabletop to 55 lb. Kamp-Rite rates its table to 70 lb. Lifetime publishes no load figure for the 80373 at all, so it lands in the not-published band for build. The seats do better: Picnic Time and Kamp-Rite both rate them to 250 lb per bench. Lifetime publishes no bench rating and no weight for its set, which costs it on build and on portability.

One box, or a set you assemble?

The case for a boxed set is real. It is one purchase, one carry and one thing to find in the garage. Picnic Time's table and its four seats weigh 16.1 lb together, and the whole thing folds into a suitcase shape. If your trunk space or your back is the deciding factor, you can stop here and buy the Picnic Time.

The case for separates is durability, and it is the stronger case. On the table rubric the three sets score 5.6, 4.2 and 4.1. The Roll-a-Table scores 7.6. CampTime rates it to 100 lb, close to double Picnic Time's tabletop. Its warranty on defects in materials and workmanship “has no time limit,” and CampTime says it “stocks all parts.” Legs, leg tips, cross bars, a roll-top and a storage bag are listed on its site, and its Four Adjustable Legs “fit every Roll-a-Table made since 1983.” The King Kong scores 7.6 on the chair rubric: ALPS rates it to 800 lb, builds it from quilted 600D polyester on powder-coated steel, and warrants it against defects for the life of the product.

The quieter advantage is that separate pieces fail separately. On a set with attached seats, the seats and the table share one frame, so a single bent joint can take all four seats out of service until it is fixed. With separates, a failed chair is one chair, and each piece has its own warranty and its own parts route. Picnic Time does more than any other set maker here to soften that risk: its guarantee promises to “repair or replace your item without hassle and without charge” for life, on request.

The other two sets each solve one problem and leave the durability questions open. The Lifetime 80373 is the only set with a standard 29-inch table, and its two detached benches clip under the table so it folds flat as one piece, with no assembly required, per Lifetime. But Lifetime publishes no load rating, no bench capacity and no weight, so there is nothing to score it on for build or carry. The Kamp-Rite Kwik Set gives you the biggest table of the three sets, 47 x 27 inches, and the table stores inside the benches to make one carry case. It weighs 43 lb, and its warranty is one year.

Buyer-first, plainly: nothing in the registry beats the Picnic Time on carry weight, and nothing that comes in one box beats its warranty. What to look for in camping chairs and a table

Find the tabletop rating, not just the seat rating

Set makers lead with how many people sit, but the tabletop is the number that decides what the set can do. The three sets here publish 55 lb, 70 lb and nothing. Before you trust a 55 lb top, weigh what you actually put on a camp table, a loaded cooler or a full water jug, on a bathroom scale. If it comes close, a table with a higher published rating belongs in your plan.

Read “per bench” carefully

A per-bench rating is the total for everyone on that bench. Kamp-Rite rates each of its two 49 x 10-inch benches to 250 lb, so two adults sharing one bench share that 250 lb. Picnic Time writes “Maximum weight capacity is 250 lbs. per bench” for a table with seating for four, and its page doesn't say whether a bench means one seat or a pair. If two larger adults will sit on one side, ask Picnic Time before you assume 250 lb each. Match the seat to the table: the 12-inch rule

Eureka Ergonomic calls a 12-inch gap between seat and tabletop “the standard rule of thumb” in the furniture industry, and pairs a 30-inch table with an 18-inch seat. Build your own set and you can do that math from the spec sheets. ALPS publishes a 19-inch seat for the King Kong, which points to a table of about 31 inches. The Roll-a-Table tops out at 30 inches, an 11-inch gap, and CampTime advises extra bracing above 28 inches (strapping two tables together, bracing against a wall or tree, or pushing the legs into sand). Warranty and parts: who fixes it when a hinge goes

• Picnic Time: lifetime repair or replacement. It excludes products “used for unintended purposes, neglected, or … damaged through willful or accidental destruction,” and Picnic Time may substitute a comparable current product for a discontinued one. No parts are listed, so repairability scores 3.
• Lifetime 80373: a 2-year limited warranty, with replacement parts ordered through Lifetime customer service by phone, chat or email. None are listed online.
• Kamp-Rite: a 1-year warranty “from manufacture defect,” and nothing for this set on its accessories and replacement parts listing.
• CampTime: no time limit on defects; normal wear and tear is not covered. CampTime also offers to rebuild a product to “functional like-new condition” on a quote.
• ALPS: life of the product, for the original purchaser with proof of purchase from an authorized dealer. It excludes UV damage and burns, and ALPS says replacement-part sales are final.

Surfaces, sun and rain

The tabletop material tells you how to store the set. Lifetime makes the 80373's top and benches from UV-protected high-density polyethylene that it calls stain resistant, on a steel frame with an all-weather finish. Picnic Time's top is solid ABS plastic with molded polypropylene seats on an aluminum frame, and its care line is short: wash with a damp cloth and mild soap, then dry thoroughly. CampTime covers the Roll-a-Table's laminated-wood slats completely in water-resistant fabric. Kamp-Rite doesn't publish its tabletop material. Whatever you buy, store it dry and out of the sun between trips: the ALPS warranty on the King Kong specifically excludes UV damage.

Check stock before you plan around a set

On 2026-09-22, Kamp-Rite's own store showed the Kwik Set Table with Benches out of stock, and our research logged the 80373 as out of stock on Lifetime's store the same day. Both still had Amazon listings that day. The Picnic Time and the build-your-own pair carried no such flags in our research.
